It doesn’t matter how big or small your business is, even if you business is less than 1 month, it is very important that you get a website, you don’t even have to hire someone to build it, you can use WordPress and put together a website, and it doesn’t have to even be perfect.

Why you need a website

1.New Opportunities

Without a website you are probably losing a number of great opportunities for your business.  Regardless of what your business is about, people are always looking for your service or product and if you have a website you are better position to serve them. Not only that, but before someone start working with you, they normally visit your website to check out your contents, social proof (testimonials- what people are saying about you), pricing and just to learn more about you. If you don’t have a website you could be throwing a way money. Most times before I make the decision to work with someone, or even to buy from someone I would check out their website, can you remember a time you did that?

2. It is the center of your business

Although it might cost you money to drive traffic to your website and build your audience, it will be worth it in the end. Through your website you can promote your products and services, and if you meet someone on the street, while shopping, at an event, you can easily send someone to your website to learn more about what you do, and to buy from you. You can also advertise your business around the Web on social networking sites, forums and through pay-per- click advertising programs.

3. Build trust

Even if people have heard about you or your company, they may want to carry out research online first. They might also want direction to your company or offices. Having a website also gives you credibility as an entrepreneur and gives you the opportunity to tell consumers why they should trust you and the testimonials and facts to back up those opportunities. Believe it or not, most people will search the internet for a product or service before the purchase to check the credibility first.

4. Showcase your products and services

With your website you can showcase your products or outline your services in detail with beautiful images. You can also provide short video tutorials or give away free stuff so they can get on your email list.

5. Your customers expects you to

30% of consumers won’t consider a business without a website. Your website is your number one marketing asset. Studies have shown that Americans spend on average 23.6 hours online per week and are on their mobile devices for up to five hours per day.  If you are in business, your potential customers or clients expects you to have an online presence (including a website) and will consider a company that DOESN’T have one as less professional.

6. To engage with your customers

According to LSA’s (Local Search Association) April 2017 report, “The Digital Consumer Study,” 63 percent of consumers primarily use a company’s website to find and engage with businesses. I don’t know about you, but that could translate hundreds or even thousands of potential clients coming to my website to engage with me, and my contents.That’s a pretty big chunk of consumers. Research by YellowPages and LSA found that, on average, consumers use approximately three sources before making an individual purchase decision, and 30 percent automatically strike a business from consideration if they don’t have a website.

7. It will help you beat your competitors in your industry

With a website, you are able to compete effectively with your competitors (of course you need to ensure that your products and services are of high value and high quality, but that’s another article in itself). If you optimized your website for search engine, and constantly update your website with new and informative content your potential customers/clients are looking for, you are able to compete with the giants in your industry. Yes it will require a lot of work, but it is possible.

8. Social media reach is diminishing

Many entrepreneurs believe that they don’t need a website because they are already making a lot of money on Facebook alone. And I am really happy for you, but you still need a website. Why? On social media sites you are basically borrowing their audience and they can delete you at any time, I have heard stories of people who had large audience on Facebook and lost thousands of dollars as a result and an audience ready to hear from them.

If you are following social media sites, you will see that its getting harder for businesses to connect with users on the platform. While social media can help your business grow, don’t bank on using it as your sole marketing channel, especially in the future. Ensure you have a website or leadpage you can send them to so they can signup to your email list you can promote to at anytime.

The bottom line is, it is imperative for every business to have a website. The more professional and easy to navigate your website is, the more advantages you can gain.
