Convincing someone to give your idea a shot can be a very difficult task, but is not impossible, especially when it’s your boss or someone you really want to buy-in to your idea. While it may sound like a daunting task, pitching new ideas can come easy with a few simply tricks.

If you are going to pitch your brilliant idea to someone else, make sure you fully understand your idea and be able to explain why your idea or dream is important. In other words, you need to be able to sell your idea. Your idea or dream should solve a problem, if you want to install a new security system or even create one, what is the problem and how will your solution be the best option? Identify the problem and explain how your idea will be the perfect solution. Once you’ve figured out the issue, be prepare to fully explain how you are going to solve it — be sure to have more than one solution just in case your main solution will not work for whatever reason, brainstorm as many as you can think of. Then go through what you’ve come up with and pull out the best solution.

You need to then be prepared to answer any tough questions that might come your way and write up a one-page overview of your idea so your boss and other colleagues can see your proposal on paper.
