but if you have the wrong attitude you will fail even if you have all the resources you could ever need or all the money in the world, you will still fail.

That’s the power of attitude.

“Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference.” – Winston Churchill

It does not matter if you are working for the worst boss in the world, or if you are an entrepreneur, if you acquire the following two attitudes, you will soon experience constant growth in every area of your life, personal and professional.

1. A service attitude

A service attitude is one where you are willing to assist or help others in need. You are ready to add value to the lives of those you seek to help no matter what maybe happening in your life at that moment. When you have a pleasant personality with a smiling face that shows people that you are willing to assist them you will gather a large following behind you, and some of these same individuals will also be there for you in your time of need.

A service attitude doesn’t mean that you will always be available or able to help or you should become everyone’s assistant, but to be willing to help and contribute in areas outside of your designated responsibilities when you can take the time to do it.

When you are able to provide value to people, you will greatly improve your chances of success and upward mobility, and it will force your subconscious to come up with a solution to every single challenge that you face, and to give it all you got to be the difference maker.

When you become a servant, you will soon be recognized as reliable by those around you, someone they can trust and call upon. If you are in the service industry that means more people will be coming to you seeking out your service, which will increase your earning power.

Your influence will also increase as more people will come to you seeking your advice and most of these individuals will be there to help you when you are in need. This could actually improve not only yours, but other’s performance as well.

This attitude if apply to your relationship will no doubt create a healthy environment where you and your partner can grow. This attitude if apply consistently will greatly improve your chances of success.

If you work with customers at your place of work, having a service attitude will constantly improves your delivery of service and in extension the company or business will experience rapid and consistent growth through your effort alone.

This doesn’t mean that maintaining this attitude will always be a piece of cake or walk in the park for you, but when excellence becomes  a habit for you, you might struggle few times but you will always come back to an attitude of a servant.

One way you can start developing this attitude is through daily practice over short periods throughout the day. For example, working with half hour segments, then increasing to one hour segments, and then to two hours at a time. Soon, having a service attitude will become a habit and will be part of your work ethic. By giving value you are aiming to receive value.

2. A student attitude

A service attitude alone will not bring you success, you also need to adopt a student attitude as well as this will open the door for you to constantly be learning, constantly improving your skills, and this is what will make you more valuable in the marketplace and in your relationships.

A student attitude means you are always willing to learn from your experiences and from others through attending workshops and seminars, events, reading books, listening or watching inspirational audios or videos, coaching or mentorship.

There are so many people that graduate out of college only to decide to keep paying to learn (getting an mba) instead of getting paid to do the same thing: learn! The truth is, there are infinite and cheaper ways to learn out there in the real world. Find a job, try as many different things as you can and see the value in every experience you face.

“People may hear your words, but they feel your attitude.” – John C. Maxwell

You should never stop improving yourself because the world is always changing at the speed of light, and there is always someone preparing harder than you.

Learning, and applying what you learn to your life is what will set you apart from those that are not successful but are driven by their environments, economy and people.

There are so many things out there that you can not control- the weather. But your attitude is something you always have control of. Pay attention to it.

Have you adopted these, or any one of these attitudes in your life? How has it helped you? Please share your thoughts below
